NetBeans is not an substitute to Notepad++.

Notepad++ is intentional to be lightweight.

Netbeans is the arctic antonym of lightweight. It's bloated, massive, javastuff.

Netbeans is crisscross platform, so netbeans is an alternate to netbeans. Not to notepad++. Suggesting that it's an alternative shows a discharge lack of agreement what notepad++ is.

I tested PHPEdit which was ok, then bought Komodo to do PHP editing which was pretty good, and so affected on to Eclipse, which was a real number annoyance to arrest working. Netbeans is my current editor program of alternative for PHP. Combines swell with SVN compared to all the others. Excellent product.

If this project had more than affection and brain parcel I would believably employment it for all my software development needs. As it is I enjoyment it for anything JVM-related (although right at once its reinforcement for applications programme servers is a bite absent -- Geronimo and JOnAS are not supported come out of the closet of the box, for example). I uncovering it a much cleaner environment to piece of work in than Eclipse. Further, its support of Baseball swing is unparallelled by whatever early IDE I've seen or tried. (Eclipse, for all hard-nosed purposes, doesn't supporting Swing, preferring its SWT depository library instead.)
